Uninterruptible power supplies or battery back-up ac power systems with surge protection and filtering, and some with PWM automatic voltage regulation and wide input voltage windows

TSi Power Corporation uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) are available in rugged steel rack-mountable enclosures; compact with extreme wide temperature batteries; and outdoor IP44/NEMA 3R rated wall or pole-mountable enclosures (see Outdoor UPS sections). The XUPs Series come with built-in microprocessor-controlled line-interactive automatic voltage regulation, over/under-voltage protection, surge protection with heavy-duty filtering, and wide input voltage windows for long battery life. Long battery backup times are available with extended battery packs.

Uninterruptible power supplies, also called uninterruptible power systems, are for where uptime is critical to an operation's mission fulfillment. Typical UPS backup times are usually less than 20 minutes. If longer times are desirable, choose an uninterruptible power supply with extra battery cabinet flexibility, and enough extra reserve battery cabinets to satisfy your requirements.

Please look at the XUPs Series features table at the bottom of the page, and the descriptions below, to help determine the particular models you need. If you then want more detailed specifications, click on the model's hyperlink.

Choosing the optimal UPS size for your application

Please remember that your measured current draw is what will determine your backup time, not the nameplate ratings, which sometimes are double what the actual amperage (or watts) is that your systems pull. In other words, you're likely to be pleasantly surprised if you base your backup time estimation on your nameplate ratings, but perhaps not too happy if you find out you bought a UPS one or two sizes larger than you really needed. You are welcome to call for a recommendation for your application. For calculating actual backup time, a good rule of thumb is that if your actual load is 3/4 of the UPS capacity, you usually can double your backup time, and if it is 1/2 loaded, you can usually triple your backup time.

Of note, redundant uninterruptible power supplies, and/or motor-generators or dc to ac inverters, are possible by adding an automatic transfer switch (ATS). Similar to the RAID concept of redundant arrays of inexpensive hard drives, ATS enables redundant arrays of inexpensive UPS. ATS are highly recommended for mission-critical systems.

Typical XUPs Series applications are for:

Uninterruptible power systems series

The XUPs Series provides UPS backup with line-interactive automatic voltage regulation (AVR), over/under-voltage protection, surge protection with heavy duty noise filtering and communications capability. These units have a wide input voltage window which enhances battery life, as most voltage fluctuations are handled without having to go to battery.

Typical XUPs configurations include, but are not limited to the following:

XUPs-600/1000 ~ 115 vac, 600VA/420 watts and 1 kVA/700 watts.
XUPs-600HV/1000HV ~ 230 vac, 600VA/420 watts and 1 kVA/700 watts.

Please call if your application requires larger sizes or custom OEM enclosures to match your system requirements.

If a rack mount configuration is what you require, TSi's XUPs Series UPS are designed to accommodate most standard component rack enclosures. With a simple rack mount kit option, you can place your rack-mountable UPS, dc to ac inverter and/or automatic transfer switch, in either a 19". 23", and 24" rack and better facilitate the space requirements of your systems.

Instructions for configuring Windows XP Professional for automatic shutdown with TSi UPS. Please note: most new computer operating systems, such as Windows XP Professional, have automatic shutdown elements incorporated, and eliminate the need for a separate shutdown package. Please consult your operating system manual.
