Battery backup ac input, dc output UPS with wide temperature batteries and built-in heavy duty surge protection for harsh and extreme outdoor environments

Outdoor UPS (uninterruptible power systems) with ac input and dc output are available in a variety of sizes and ruggedized outdoor enclosures, with wide temperature batteries, and are typically semi-customized, build to order units per your application requirements. As some of today's electronics are very small, some outdoor UPS are available that can be designed with extra space inside to house your OEM systems, so that you have one less outdoor enclosure to deal with.

Outdoor UPS or outdoor uninterruptible power systems, (also called uninterruptible power supplies, but usually just UPS or battery backup systems), are for where uptime is critical to an operation's mission fulfillment. Typical UPS backup times are from 8 to 20 minutes, and can be as long as 14 hours for some systems. If even longer times are desirable, request an outdoor uninterruptible power supply with extra battery cabinet flexibility, and/or enough extra reserve batteries to satisfy your UPS requirements.

Choosing the optimal size UPS for your application

Please remember that your actual measured true RMS current/amperage or wattage is what will determine your backup time, not your electronics' nameplate ratings, which sometimes are double or even triple what the actual amperage (or watts) is that your systems use. In other words, you're likely to be pleasantly surprised if you base your backup time estimation on your nameplate ratings, but perhaps not too happy if you find out you bought a UPS one or two sizes larger than you really needed. For calculating actual backup time, a good rule of thumb is that if your actual load is 3/4 of the UPS capacity, you usually can double your backup time, and if it is 1/2 loaded, you can usually close to triple your backup time. You are welcome to call for a recommendation for your application.

These outdoor UPS come with wide temperature batteries, and are engineered for extreme/severe weather conditions, typically -20° to +60°C (-4° to +140°F). Even lower temperatures of -40° to +60°C (-40° to +140°F) can be accommodated with an optional battery heater.

Outdoor UPS with 115 or 120 vac input; 12, 24 or 48 vdc output

Dc output OutdoorUPs ~ The Outdoor ac input, dc output series is a UPs system in an outdoor rated enclosure (enclosure sizes vary with size of unit) with wide temperature batteries and built-in automatic voltage regulation to handle brownouts and overvoltages within a wide voltage input window, without having to exercise the batteries, thus lengthening battery life. This is a heavy duty uninterruptible power system with communications capability, and is relatively light in weight and significantly more cost-effective than similar wattage ac output UPS.

As these systems are all build to order, please consider if you will need optional battery heaters for arctic or mountain top conditions, or pole mounting brackets attached at the factory. For OEMs, if your applications utilize very small components, and if certain circumstances exist which would preclude you from using your own exterior cabinet, please discuss if the units need to be built with enough room ('hotel' space) to enable your equipment to be housed inside.

These compact size systems come in a very compact outdoor rated NEMA 3R wall mountable enclosure, with dimensions of approximately 12" high x 12.5" wide x 6.5" deep. The system is wall mountable through its standard bolt holes, or pole mountable with an optional pole mounting kit, and all units come with heavy-duty surge protection and a wide input voltage window.

Battery backup times vary per model from 30 minutes to 1.3 hours fully loaded, and more than double that when half loaded. These systems are ideal for perimeter surveillance systems (CCTV), wireless communications and industrial remote terminal units (RTUs).

These extended run-time systems come in an outdoor rated NEMA 3R wall mountable enclosure, with dimensions of approximately 22" high x 16" wide x 8.5" deep. Units are wall mountable and come with heavy-duty surge protection and a wide input voltage window.

Battery backup times vary per model from 5 to 10 hours fully loaded, and more than double that when half loaded. These systems are ideal for cable operators using O-eMTA as an alternative to HFC power, and for other applications utilizing 12 vdc power and needing extended backup time such as life-line telephone service and other mission-critical applications.
