Automatic transfer switches for redundant power

An automatic transfer switch enables redundant UPS, backup generators, or other ac power sources to be used for a single load. TSi Power automatic transfer switches (ATs) are recommended when no downtime from a power outage can be tolerated. Typical applications include Internet service providers, critical servers and telecom equipment, and export markets with bad power. These rack-mountable units permit daisy chaining with any sine wave 120V or 230V UPS up to 40A, providing unlimited redundancy using any combination of independent (separate) ac circuits, UPS systems, photovoltaic, hydro or wind turbine fed dc to ac inverters, generator-backed ac circuits, and so on. In a sense, you can compare ATS strategy with RAID strategy (Redundant Arrays of Inexpensive Disks).

Please look at the ATs and ARm Series features table at the bottom of the page, or the descriptions below, to determine the ATs series you need. If you then want more detailed specifications, click on the model's hyperlink.

Automatic transfer switch series

ATs ~ The ATs Series static automatic transfer switch is for enabling the use of even asynchronous redundant power sources, such as uninterruptible power systems and generators feeding industrial controls, PLC cabinets, internet servers, telecom systems, etc. Another excellent use of the customizable ATs automatic transfer switch is for photovoltaic systems used in conjunction with dc to ac inverters and ac power generators, or the electric utility grid. The ATs Series utilizes solid-state relays with user selectable transfer times, and allows asynchronous power sources (ac sources do not have to be in phase with each other ~ especially useful in mission-critical hospital/dual power grid situations).

ATs-1000-120V-30A-40A ~ two 120 vac inputs, one 120 vac output, in 30 amperes and 40 amperes configurations.
ATs-1000E-230V-30A-40A ~ two 208, 230 or 240 vac inputs, one 208, 230 or 240 vac output, in 30 amperes and 40 amperes configurations.

Automatic transfer switch for use as a UPS bypass switchARm ~ The ARm Series automatic redundancy module is designed to provide absolute power protection for your mission-critical computers and equipment. It can provide uninterrupted ac to your load in the event of one ac source failure. ARms your critical equipment against extended power outages and catastrophic system shutdowns caused by accidental circuit breaker trips, UPS overload conditions, weak or old UPS batteries, routine and preventive maintenance of UPS, accidental UPS shut down, loose power cords, or UPS failure.  (Note: ac sources DO always have to be in phase with each other. As such, these units are most often used simply as UPS maintenance bypass switches. For asynchronous power sources, as from two different power grids, see above ATs Series units).

ARm-1000 ~ two 120 vac inputs, one 120 vac output, 15 amperes.
ARm-1000E ~ two 208, 230 or 240 vac inputs, one output, 10 amperes.

With a simple rack mount kit option, you can place your ARm or ATs automatic transfer switch, rack-mountable UPs, and/or INv, in either a 19", 23", and 24" rack and facilitate the space requirements of your systems, not the ARm or ATs transfer switch, XINv inverter, or XUPs/UPs.
