TSi manufactures two ac automatic
voltage regulator (AVR) topologies. The first group consists of ferroresonant constant
voltage regulating transformers and tap switching transformers,
conventionally referred to as AVR. The second group
of voltage regulators, the VRp Series, utilizes TSi's new electronic
PWM 'no-break' voltage
regulation technology, still AVR, but sometimes referred to as
PWM AVR or EVR,
or pulse-width modulated voltage regulation, which utilizes transistors and computer
chips to modify the sine wave to an optimal wave shape.
AVR used to be considered the more heavy duty of the two voltage
regulation topologies for developing country
applications. Over time, the VRp Series has proven itself as not only the more precise methodology, useable on any kind
of load, but also is now preferred for use in countries with quite aberrant
power as well as those with relatively stable power,
such as the US, Europe, etc. AVR is the least expensive voltage regulator technology to use for
loads with low amperage requirements i.e. the 1 to 2 amperes range. TSi

Outdoor rated enhanced PWM AVR ac protection for demanding
applications with automatic line regulation, independent OVP and automatic
bypass. This
product has five-stage automatic line-voltage regulation and automatic bypass.
It's fail-safe design assures OVP functions even if voltage regulation circuits
fail and unit transfers to bypass. Features include EFT and power/noise
protection with low dv/dt, coordination of surge protective devices, and
optional distribution DIN-rail that accommodates up to four distribution
breakers.
